AnimalZone: Tokyo where animals are bigger than life! Season 12, Episode 07

In this captivating episode of AnimalZone, Sisko takes us on a whirlwind tour of Tokyo, where the city's love for animals shines through in extraordinary ways. Our journey begins in Asakusa, a district renowned for its vibrant souvenir shops and its iconic Maneki Neko, the beckoning cat believed to bring good fortune. We explore Gotokuji Temple, also known as the “Lucky Cat” temple, and delve into the cultural significance of Maneki Neko, including the special place black cats hold in Japanese superstition.

Next, we visit a dog café, a delightful twist on the popular cat café concept, and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved Hello Kitty brand, which has captured hearts around the globe.

Our adventure continues with a poignant visit to the statue of Hachiko in Shibuya. This loyal Akita dog famously waited at the train station every day for his owner, even after the owner's passing. The heartwarming story of Hachiko was immortalized in the 2009 film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale," starring Richard Gere.

In Shinjuku, Tokyo’s bustling Times Square, we marvel at a giant 3D Cat installation and a towering Godzilla statue, both of which capture the imaginations of passersby. The Godzilla statue pays homage to the iconic monster films that began in 1954, reflecting Japan’s historical and cultural responses to nuclear events.
